We also have ongoing partnerships with metro & transport authorities such as Delhi Metro, DTL, Bangalore Metro, Hyderabad metro, Indian Railways etc. where these stations will support the last mile connectivity segment of urban and semi-urban areas.
Q3. How long does a battery swap take?
It takes less than 2 minutes to swap a battery, depending on the number of batteries being swapped per vehicle (typically 1 battery for a 2-wheeler, 2 for an E-Rickshaw, 3 for a 3W loader or Auto, etc.)
Q4. What types of electric vehicles will be compatible with the swapping stations?
These swap points are compatible with 2-wheelers, 3-wheelers, and small 4-wheelers that are integrated with Indofast Energy’s battery swapping technology. Retrofitting is currently available only for 2-wheelers.
Q5. Do I have to buy a new vehicle to use your swap network?
No. You can either buy a partner vehicle that supports swapping or retrofit your existing 2-wheeler to make it compatible.
Q6. What is retrofitting?
Retrofitting is the process of converting your existing petrol 2-wheeler into an electric vehicle using certified swappable battery technology.
Q7. Who can get their vehicle retrofitted?
Anyone with an eligible 2-wheeler can apply. Our team will assess your vehicle and guide you through the process.
Q8. Is retrofitting legal and safe?
Yes. Our retrofit kits are certified and compliant with government norms, ensuring safe and road-legal conversion.
Q9. Where can I get my bike retrofitted?
You can visit one of our authorized retrofit partners. Use our app or website to locate one near you.

We seek to expand the battery swapping network in India with a lucrative and rewarding franchise partner business that offers a return of up to 30% on the initial investment, with a guaranteed minimum monthly payout to the franchise partner, and an additional payout based on the operations at the partner’s location.
The partner needs to only provide the space, an electricity connection with access to EV tariff, investment (of INR 30L to ~1 Cr.) in the battery swapping infrastructure (swap station), and ensure availability of the station to the public for a minimum of 16 hours per day without downtime.
Q. Who can be your franchise partners?
We seek small-to-large business owners, commercial property owners, automotive dealerships, automotive service and retrofit centres, charge point operators, multi-modal EV energy service providers, hospitality business owners and franchisees, retail spaces, etc.
Q13. How can I become a franchise partner?
You can fill out the Franchise Enquiry Form on our website, and our team will get in touch with you.
Q. What is the expected return?

Yes. IndoFast is a joint venture between Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOCL) and SUN Mobility, giving it the reach, credibility, and innovation to lead India’s electric mobility shift.
Q20. What is the cost per swap?
Currently, the price for a fully charged Battery varies from Rs 48-54, on a pro-rata basis. It differs from city to city based on local govt incentives and price of electricity. There is no fixed charge per swap, as our customers are only billed for the energy they utilize, on a pay-as-you-go model.
Q21. Will you partner with more players for charging solutions, especially swapping?
At Indofast Energy, we always welcome partners who will help grow the ecosystem in a safe and credible manner. We appreciate and look forward to partnering with organizations that are invested in the country’s vision for electric mobility, carbon-neutral targets, and are a strong part of the EV ecosystem.
Q22. How will your driver partners benefit by opting for Indofast Energy’s solutions?
Our driver partners could potentially save over 20% of their monthly running costs by switching to SUN Mobility’s network and solutions, owing to lower costs of energy, lower maintenance, and financial incentives such as zero road taxes, registration charges, emissions taxes, etc.
Q23. Why do you believe battery swapping has a huge opportunity in India?
Two-wheelers and three-wheelers constitute nearly 80% of the vehicles in India. India has ambitions of 30% EV penetration by 2030. Battery swapping is touted to be a viable, cost-effective way of accelerating the adoption of EVs to be able to achieve 80% penetration in two and three-wheeler segments. This is because of the overcoming of the entry barriers to EV adoption, namely - Purchase price of EVs, Cost of battery replacement, Free permits in many cities for EVs, etc.
Q24. What are the benefits of battery swapping technology compared to traditional charging?
- Lower up-front costs
- No range-anxiety
- No more concerns around battery replacement
- Zero maintenance costs
Q25. Why is swappable battery technology, which is cumbersome, better than charging?
Swapping is not cumbersome at all. It is, in fact, mimicking the current user behaviour of ‘refuelling’ in a few minutes rather than waiting for hours for charging. This helps users save time, makes their EV more affordable to buy and run.
Battery swapping also saves on the real estate required in comparison to fixed charging (which requires parking spaces, queuing spaces, etc.), reduces the load on the electricity grid, and also makes battery management systemized and optimisable.
The batteries are lightweight and modular, payments are digital, and the user gets vital information about battery and station at his/her fingertips through an app, which makes it more convenient than conventional refuelling.
